2022-23 marks the eleventh year for Students in Concert (S.I.C.). S.I.C. is a special music program offered to current 6th, 7th, and 8th grade BTSD band students. This program is made possible through the generous financial support of the Youth Orchestra of Bucks County(YOBC). This intensive program will give students exposure to more in-depth musical training and individualized instruction not possible during the school day.
Students In Concert includes:
1 hour of small ensemble rehearsal with a focus on group performance skills;
30 minute private/small group lessons;
a grande finale concert as part of the BTSD Middle School Honors Band Festival in March with a special guest conductor. Prior guest conducts include national recognized composers and educators Dr. Quincy Hilliard, Mr. William Owens, and Dr. Scott Watson.
S.I.C. takes place Monday nights between 6 and 9pm at FDR Middle School. All students will be in group rehearsals from 7-8 pm. Additionally, each student will have a lesson scheduled at one of the following times: 6-6:30, 6:30-7, 8-8:30, or 8:30-9. S.I.C. will start Monday, October 17, 2022 and conclude with our festival concert in March 2022. Applications for admission into the Students in Concert program are currently being accepted.
