Mahalo for your kokua!
COVID 19 Update 3/26/20
Pearl City Medical Associates is open and providing patient care. When appropriate, we are conducting telephone visits in lieu of in-person appointments to minimize exposure risk to our patients and the community per State of Hawaii “Stay At Home” orders and current CDC guidelines (to limit non-urgent outpatient visits). If you are ill or have a question, please call our office to discuss if a telephone visit or an in-person visit is most appropriate. Essential appointments, such as childhood immunizations, are still being conducted as scheduled. Thank you.
Patient and Family Advisory Council
Pearl City Medical Associates’ Adult Medicine Department has their very own Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). The department uses this innovative approach of partnership with the PFAC to ensure that high-quality patient and family-centered care is delivered. In collaboration with the PFAC, the department overcomes challenges that inhibit optimal delivery and continuously improves and enhances care provided to patients and their families. For more information or to participate, please contact Shelby at (808) 488-7999.
Patient Workshops
The Adult Medicine Department has the pleasure of hosting FREE patient workshops on various topics identified by the PFAC as areas patients need more self-management support in. Workshops on General Nutrition, Advanced Nutrition (including education on intermittent fasting), Fall Prevention and Caregiving Options are being offered throughout the year. These workshops are held in our office and workshop dates and times can be found here. Due to limited space, they are only for patients and their spouses and/or caregivers. For more information or to sign up please call Shelby at (808) 488-7999.
Regarding Recording Devices
Effective immediately Pearl City Medical Associates will no longer permit electronic or other recording mechanisms in the office, the exam room, or on the premises. These recordings breach the confidentiality rights of other patients and infringe on the privacy rights of the clinicians and employees of Pearl City Medical Associates. Any person discovered recording on the premises will be asked to discontinue recording and may be rescheduled for another visit, or discharged as a patient and will be unable to receive future care from Pearl City Medical Associates. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Please contact Shelby Kahalekulu-Nakama at (808) 488-7999 with questions or concerns about this policy.
