On our way to Banff, we stopped at Takakaw Falls, just west of the park. The road up was unbelievably steep with hairpin turns that some with larger vehicles tried unsuccessfully to navigate. The parking lot was a fair distance from the Falls, and we began our trek in the heat. As we approached the falls, the temperature began dropping and the mist became very heavy. We did get closer than the photo indicates, but the cold and wet didn’t allow us to get as close as some who were braver.

After Banff, we headed back to the US and Glacier National Park. There had been quite a few fires there, but life was returning.

After leaving the park, out on the plains,

we drove through the most horrible rain/sleet/hail/wind storm you can imagine. The interesting thing was that we followed a rainbow into the storm, and when we passed through the storm, we followed a rainbow (as well as a “Follow Me” car out of a construction zone) all the way to the town where we stayed the night.

Finally, we have a pet! When Dot brought in her orchids and placed them in her newly-built basement greenhouse, a tree frog apparently came in with them. He/she has made a home among the slipper orchids, and is being well cared-for.
